Well today is a good day to restart the band blog. The band personnel has undergone a makeover, ready for our gig tonight at The St George's Hill Lawn Tennis Club in Weybridge, Surrey.
On bass we have Oli Hayhurst: from Ray Gelato to Pharaoh Sanders, Kurt Rosenwinkel to Jacqui Dankworth , Hannes Riepler to Vanessa May - Oli has played with some of the best musicians around, both young and established.
On saxophone: Rachael Cohen. One of the most exciting sounds on the alto sax in the UK, regularly appearing with her own band at Ronnie Scotts and the Vortex Jazz Clubs, London, having played alongside such notable musicians as Phil Robson, Mike Gibbs, John Hollenbeck.
On guitar, a young impresario, student of the acclaimed Lage Lund and Gilad Hekselman from New York (with whom he toured the States), and quickly becoming one of the busiest jazz guitarists in London, is Tom Ollendorff - regularly leading the house band at Troyganic Jazz in Hoxton.
The event is a fundraising summer ball arranged by the PTA of Cleves School Weybridge. We are really pleased, not only to be playing at such a prestigious venue, but also to be involved in this worthy fundraiser.
