Tonight we teamed up with saxophonist Greg Davis to play an evening set at the grand Livery Hall on Threadneedle Street in the heart of London’s Financial Centre. This was a Summer Ball for the Tailors of London and Saville Row and a celebration for those apprentices who have completed their hard-earned tailoring training qualification. This was not an event to be seen at wearing an off-the-peg suit!
We did a jazzy first set for cocktails and then went up a funky notch to get the party started again after dinner, playing some classic funk: Cissy Strut by the Meters, Cold Duck Time – Eddie Harris, some funky Cannonball Adderley numbers, and Herbie Hancock Headhunters tunes… We got ’em up and dancing, that’s for sure. Wonderful evening, lovely crowd, and amazing suits!
